Work in progress (detail)

I'm excited to have this painting back on the easel.  This is a detail that I hope you will enjoy.  It will be on display at the John Pence Gallery from November 20th to December 19th.  The title for the group exhibition is Figures and Interior. If you're in the Bay Area during that time, I hope you can stop in and see the amazing artwork that will be on display.

"Ace"

Fresh off the easel is a new painting I titled "Ace" This is a tribute painting to the Korean Mig ace  Frederick "Boots" Blesse.  I'll be shipping the painting to the John Pence Gallery for the still life exhibition in October.  The date of the artist reception is October 16th, so if you are in the bay area please stop by.

Rev. Clay Evans

Rev. Evans is celebrating his 90th birthday this June. He has a great face to paint and he is a man with a lot of wisdom.  I was glad I had an opportunity to spend some time with him.

Frances

Well, it was Easter 2015 and I was really missing my mom.  After dinner, I decided to do a small painting of her alla prima style. It was a great way for me to express how I was feeling in the moment.  I miss you mom.

Fresh on the easel

This is a detail shot of one of my new paintings.  My hope is to have the work completed by the end of March. I will post my progress in the next two weeks.  It's always exciting to get a new idea for a painting, but at the same time frustrating in making it work.
